Staying Organized and Keeping Our Shit Together

Strategy Series
Staying Organized and Keeping Our Shit Together
There are some days I can't even find my pen. Or I search the house for the iPhone that I'm actually holding in my hand. Does that ever happen to you? Staying organized sometimes feels like an unattainable goal. We explore how we can keep it all together (or at least pretend to).

There's a lot more to organizing your life than buying a new planner and a label maker. Aside from the obvious, there's a myriad of factors that can help us stay organized: professionally, personally, and mentally.

As entrepreneurs and creatives, staying organized can be especially difficult. Creative people sometimes get a bad rap when it comes to organization, but "creative" and "organized" aren't mutually exclusive. We just need to figure out how to hone in these out-of-the-box thoughts. How can we organize our creative ideas and, more importantly, leverage them to form real business results?

One thing we can agree on is that there isn't one, single solution to getting organized. It might take some time, but you'll eventually figure out which organization method best fits your specific team and processes. You'll master the little things that help your business flow on a daily basis: from what collaboration software works best for your employees' specific needs, to how your team should record their timesheets.

This episode, we discuss our personal organization styles and how much we can accomplish once we've truly decluttered our minds.

Dirty Martini
This drink is a heavy-hitter. The olive brine meshes nicely with the dry vermouth, delivering a strong dose of saltiness and flavor. It's a martini you drink after you've (metaphorically) climbed a mountain and can see how great it is from the top.

Ingredients

  • 2 1⁄2 oz. Detroit City Distillery vodka
  • 1⁄2 oz. dry vermouth
  • 1⁄2 oz. olive brine
  • All the olives you desire, to garnish

Preparation

  1. Add all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  3. Garnish
