Balance
Is Your Job a Job or Is Your Job a Lifestyle?

Regardless of where you are in your career, you’ve probably heard the phrase “work-life balance” so many times that it’s started to not mean anything. Our approach to work-life balance needs to change, but we’re not talking about embracing “hustle culture” or “staying on that grind.” Sometimes, your job is your life and your life is your job, and that doesn’t have to be a negative thing. This week, we’re talking about how our approach to work-life balance changed when we started viewing our jobs as a lifestyle, and how we’ve learned to navigate spaces where we are defined by our jobs.

If you’re in a position where your job follows you into the other aspects of your life, it could be helpful to view your job not as your life, but rather as your lifestyle. In this episode, we talk about when wearing many hats at once means a traditional approach to work-life balance doesn’t make sense, and the benefits that come from viewing your work as a lifestyle, rather than just a job.
