Innovation and Changes In Nonprofits – Featuring Guest Joan Gustafson
We’ve said before that we think nonprofits have similar concerns to small businesses — keep the lights on, keep people engaged, and keep the mission at the forefront. Which is why we’re pleased to host Joan Gustafson, external affairs officer at the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA). Among many roles, she’s had a hand in keeping hundreds of nonprofits above water this year. We discuss her story, how nonprofits have been affected in recent times, and what’s coming up for our state and the MNA in the months to come.

Businesses big and small have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in one way or another. How does this affect nonprofits specifically, and what innovations can they embrace in order to keep up?

Few people know the answers to these questions better than Joan Gustafson, external affairs officer at the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) and our guest this episode. For the past several months, Joan has been working tirelessly to ensure that the many nonprofits within the state of Michigan have the resources and tools they need to not only continue helping their communities, but also to stay afloat themselves.

What innovations have Michigan nonprofits adopted lately to keep up with changes and improve their offerings in the process? We chat with Joan about how Michigan nonprofits are adapting, as well as the role the MNA plays in keeping Michigan nonprofits afloat as we collectively navigate 2020.
