The Modern Medicine is a rich, bold cocktail that combines bourbon with smoky Scotch. Aperol adds a hint of bitterness, while lemon juice and demerara syrup balance the flavors with tartness and sweetness. Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz bourbon
- 1/2 oz Aperol
- 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz demerara syrup
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters
- 1/4 oz smoky Scotch
- Garnish: lemon twist
Preparation
- Combine the bourbon, Aperol, fresh lemon juice, Demerara Syrup, and bitters in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Strain into a rocks glass over ice.
- Carefully float the scorch over the top of the cocktail by slowly pouring it over the back of a bar spoon.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
