Drink: Sidecar

A favorite during the Prohibition era, the Sidecar is a fruity, sweet and dry cocktail that’s easy to drink and a delight to sip.

  • 2 oz Cognac Pierre Ferrand 1840
  • 3/4 Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
  • 3/4 lemon juice
  • 1 barspoon 2:1 demerara syrup

  1. Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake well and pour into an old-fashioned glass.

No two sidecars taste alike. And, apparently, they're not supposed to according to contributing editor Robert Simonson with Punch. This recipe is from Pouring Ribbons, in the East Village in NYC.
